| Sarah Teagardin of Belvidere receives a trophy for winning first place in the girls 10-14 year-old age group of the 5 kilometer Red Shoe Run from Jarrett Payton in Rockford on Saturday, April 11. Jarrett Payton is the son of former Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton, who died while waiting for a liver transplant almost ten years ago. Jarrett remains active in events like the Red Shoe Run to raise awareness about the need for organ, blood, and tissue donation. April is National Donate Life Month and according to Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, 5000 Illinoisians are currently waiting for life-saving organ transplants.
