![]() Cherry Valley native and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Leonard Keller of Pensacola, Fla. was the parade marshall during Cherry Valley's Fourth of July parade on Saturday, July 4, 2009. Keller was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Lyndon B. Johnson on September 19, 1968 for "conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty" for his actions in the Ap Bac Zone of the Republic of Vietnam on May 2, 1967. Keller and a fellow soldier from the Army's 9th Infantry Division charged and neutralized a total of seven enemy bunkers from which intense gunfire from automatic weapons and small arms had pinned down their company.
